Adoption "What would you like in your coffee?" "Cream and two sugars." Dr. Alisa Morris poured a cup from the full pot that was warming. She handed Carol the requested coffee. Then waited for Carol to take a sip. "What's this all about?" Carol asked. Carol didn't know the purpose of meeting with Dr. Morris. Carol wasn't sure why she showed up. It was probably just curiosity that made her come. "Morgan wants to see you. He wants to ask you something," Dr. Morris explained. "My ex-husband?" "Yes, he's been my patient since the divorce. I think we've made lots of progress. Now he wants to see you." "I don't have anything to say to him." "He's changed. He's changed a lot since you last saw him. He's a new person." "That's wonderful for him," Carol said sarcastically. "But I have moved on. I have a new person in my life." "I understand that." "I don't want to see him. I don't want to see him ever!" "I promise what has happened between you is done. He won't cause a scene; you can leave anytime." "I thought when I saw him last in the courtroom would be the final time I would ever see him. I don't want to see him again." "That was months ago. Can't you let your bitterness go? It's not healthy to hold onto it. All he wants to do is meet with you. I'll be there. You won't be alone with him." "Maybe if Mark was here with me?" "Your boyfriend?" "My fiance." "As luck would have it, Mark is already here." "Has he seen Morgan?" "No, but I called him. Mark doesn't mind if you talk to Morgan." "Really?" "Ask him, he's right here." Mark was summoned. He entered the office and joined Carol."
