Batman - Maîtresse de Ballet

Batman - Maîtresse de Ballet

Batman: The Ballet Bandit Caper!

In the glittering, gadget-filled Gotham City of the swinging '60s, where every villain had a gimmick and every hero had a utility belt full of Bat-gadgets, a new threat twirled into town. She called herself the Maîtresse de Ballet, a mysterious French-accented femme fatale in a dramatic black tutu adorned with glittering silver notes and a glittering conductor's baton that doubled as a weapon. Her hair was pulled into the tightest bun in Gotham, and her eyes sparkled with wicked elegance behind a delicate lace mask.

"Tonight, mes héros," she declared from the rooftops with a dramatic flourish, "ze arts shall conquer ze streets!"

Batman, Robin, and Batgirl had been hot on her trail after a string of peculiar thefts-priceless jewelry vanishing during high-society ballet performances. They cornered her in an abandoned opera house, Batgirl flipping gracefully from the rafters, Robin somersaulting in, and Batman striding forward with his cape billowing.

"Give it up, Maîtresse!" Batman boomed in his deep, authoritative voice. "Your criminal pirouettes end here!"

But the villainess only laughed-a light, musical trill. "Oh, but you are already too late, Dark Knight! Behold... Ballet Dust!"

With a flick of her wrist, she hurled a shimmering cloud of sparkling pink-and-gold powder from a ornate jeweled compact. It enveloped the trio before they could reach for their Bat-gas masks. They coughed, staggered, and then... their expressions softened into dreamy smiles.

"Holy pliés, Batman!" Robin exclaimed, his voice suddenly lighter. "I feel... graceful!"
