Better Than Divorce

Better Than Divorce

“Glad you could come,” Karrie Hanson told her friend as she let her into her house.

“No problem, so what's up?” Eva Rose Gridley replied.

“Took care of the problem with Phillip.”

Karrie had found out that her husband had been cheating on her. She was furious when she found out. So much so that she didn't want to confront him as she didn't know what she would do. Instead, she called Eva Rose to talk it out. Eva Rose had calmed her down. She convinced Karrie not to act rashly. The first thing would be to get her financial house in order and then decide what she wanted to do. Eva Rose wasn't saying that divorce was the only or even proper option, but if Karrie was going to do it, she should be prepared. It might be harder to get the details that she needed after Phillip was warned.

“Are you going to get divorced?”

“No, I don't think so. But there have been lots of changes.”

“Phillip said he wouldn't see her again. You know, just because he says it, doesn't mean he'll stick to it in the future."

"The changes are permanent. He won't be a problem anymore."

"How can you be so sure?"

"I'll show you. But don't be shocked. Keep your composure."

Shouting down the hall, "Phil, can you come here?"

"OK, mom."

A few moments later, Phil appeared, he was a grown man, but he was dressed like a little girl. He was wearing a rose-colored one-shoulder top with a pleated design and tie shorts featuring two pockets. Between the top and the shorts, a small gap exposed about an inch and a half of his midriff. On his feet, he was wearing ribbon and pearl slip-on sandals. His hair was still very short, but what hair there was, was made into a ponytail with a rubber band.

"Phil, I want you to meet my friend Eva Rose...Don't be shy, say hello."

"Hello," Phillip repeated.

"Hi," Eva responded as she put out her hand to shake.

"I've known Eva Rose forever. She's one of my best friends."

Phil smiled.

"Hi, tell me about yourself," Eva asked.

"I'm Phyllis."

"That's a pretty name."

"Ummm, I don't know what else to say."

"How old are you?"

"Ten."

"What grade are you in/"

"I guess fourth."

"You guess?"

"Yeah, I'm home-schooled. I don't go to school with the other kids."

"I see."

"What do you do for fun?"

"The usual things."
