Charity

Carly heard the chime of the doorbell. She got off the of couch and walked to the door.

Carly: Hello.

Man: Hi there, I hope I'm not catching you at a bad time. I'm here representing --- charity and we're currently running a clothing drive to support families in need in our community.

Carly couldn't quite make out the name of the charity. But the man at the door sounded sincere so she opened the door and stepped into the doorway.

Carly: Oh, um, hello. I'm really not interested in donating right now.

Carly thought she recognized the man. She thought she saw him a short while ago while she was shopping at the local supermarket. Was this the same guy?

Man: I completely understand, and I appreciate your honesty.

Carly: I'm sorry, can I ask you a question?

Man: Surely.

Carly: Were you just at Stop and Shop?

Man: I've been there, but not recently.

Carly: I could have sworn.

Man: I have that type of face. A face you can trust.

Carly looked over at the man again. He did seem to have trustworthy eyes. She felt like she could trust him.

Carly: For a second there, I just thought.

Man: It's fine. Now can I ask you a question?

Carly: Yeah.

Man: Can I ask what's holding you back from donating?

Carly: Well, to be honest, I'm sentimentally attached to a lot of my old clothes, and it's hard for me to part with them.

Man: I hear you. Clothing can hold a lot of memories and sentimental value. Would it help if I shared how your donation could make a difference in someone's life?

Carly: I guess so.

Man: Your used clothing could provide warmth, comfort, and even a sense of dignity to someone who's going through a tough time. Just imagine the impact your donation could have on a family struggling to make ends meet, or a person trying to get back on their feet after a difficult situation.

Carly: I never thought about it that way.
