Chrissie's New Forever
Chris slumped into bed that night, the weight of the world crushing him. Bills, deadlines, relationships, expectations-everything an adult man was supposed to shoulder felt like iron chains. “I just want a break,” he muttered into his pillow. “One day where nothing is my responsibility.” He didn’t know the universe was listening. --- The next morning, sunlight filtered through pastel curtains dotted with cartoon stars. Chris stirred, expecting the familiar creak of his old mattress. Instead, he heard the soft rustle of ruffles and felt something impossibly soft against his skin. He opened his eyes. Pink. Everywhere. He was lying in a child-sized canopy bed with white lace drapes, surrounded by stuffed animals-mostly teddy bears wearing little bows. The walls were painted soft lavender with hand-painted clouds and smiling bears. A toy kitchen sat in one corner. A small table held crayons and coloring books. “What the…?” Chris sat up and looked down. His adult male body was still there-broad shoulders, stubble on his chin, the same height and build. But it was wrapped in the most absurdly adorable outfit he had ever seen. A long-sleeved tunic dress in light pink fabric, covered in charming prints of brown teddy bears, pink hearts, and pink bows. The high empire waist gave it a sweet, babydoll shape, while the flared, ruffled skirt bounced with every movement. The hem featured a bright pink band and delicate white eyelet lace trim. Beneath it, he wore vibrant bubblegum pink form-fitting leggings that hugged his legs. On his feet were light pink strappy sandals with little buckle details. A large cream-colored floral bow headband sat awkwardly on his head, slightly askew from sleep. |
