Fashion U

Professor Nicole Fishbine had always been known for her sharp intellect, her keen analytical mind, and her absolute indifference toward fashion. She was a woman of logic, reason, and scientific curiosity, and she saw no value in spending time or effort on clothing, makeup, or accessories. Her wardrobe consisted of slacks, jeans, button-down shirts, and the occasional T-shirt. She owned no jewelry, wore no makeup, and considered beauty routines to be frivolous distractions.

However, that changed when she decided to embark on a unique experiment during the Christmas break. Nicole had long been fascinated by the power of hypnosis, particularly the way it could alter ingrained behaviors and habits. What if she could rewire her own mind to care about her appearance? What if she could make herself genuinely desire to dress elegantly and embrace femininity?

Intrigued by the possibilities, she created a hypnotic tape tailored specifically to her needs. Every night, she listened to the recording, allowing the carefully crafted affirmations to seep into her subconscious. The words encouraged her to embrace beauty, to take pleasure in adorning herself, to find confidence and joy in appearing attractive. The messages played over and over in her mind as she drifted to sleep, reshaping her perspective in ways she could not yet comprehend.

By the time her Christmas break was over, Nicole had undergone a radical transformation. The indifference she had once felt toward fashion had been replaced with an all-consuming obsession. The first thing she did upon waking up was carefully select her lingerie---delicate, lace-trimmed, and perfectly coordinated. She could no longer bear the thought of wearing something plain or mismatched beneath her outer attire. Every outfit had to be stylish, alluring, and feminine. She filled her closet with dresses, skirts, elegant blouses, and trendy tops. Her makeup became an essential part of her morning routine, her jewelry was meticulously chosen to complement her clothing, and her accessories---scarves, handbags, and heels---became statements of her newfound identity.

Returning to her position at the university, Nicole was nearly unrecognizable to her colleagues and students. Gone were the drab slacks and button-down shirts. Instead, she arrived at her lectures impeccably dressed in form-fitting dresses, sheer stockings, and designer heels. Her hair was perfectly styled, her nails manicured, her makeup flawlessly applied. Even the lingerie beneath her elegant ensembles was chosen with precision, each piece a hidden but crucial part of her carefully curated appearance.

Yet, as she stood before her students, something became glaringly apparent---her mind was no longer entirely focused on her lectures. Instead of passionately discussing theories and scientific principles, she found herself constantly adjusting her outfit, ensuring that her jewelry sparkled just right in the light, that her lipstick was perfectly even, that her posture remained graceful. Her obsession with beauty had begun to dominate every aspect of her existence.

She tried to concentrate on the lecture material, but a fleeting thought about her lipstick shade distracted her. Did it match her outfit as perfectly as she had intended? Were her earrings visible enough to add the right touch of sophistication? She caught her reflection in the classroom window and subtly adjusted a stray curl of hair. The students, though initially bewildered by her transformation, couldn't help but be captivated by the mesmerizing presence she exuded.

But deep inside, a small part of Nicole's original self stirred with unease. Had she gone too far? Had she lost control of her own experiment? The woman who once cared only about knowledge and discovery now lived in a world of silk, lace, and shimmering cosmetics.

And the most terrifying realization of all---she wasn’t sure if she wanted to go back.
