Introduction To New Life

Introduction To New Life

These are variations of the same story :-)

Part 1

In the soft pink glow of the fairy lights strung across the walls, Joy stood with one hand resting gently on Louis’s shoulder. The newly finished suite smelled of fresh linen and the faint sweetness of the roses on the nightstands. Mannequins lined the room like quiet attendants, each dressed in a different maid uniform-royal blue with crisp white apron, deep red with black trim, classic black with white lace, and more waiting in the wardrobe.

Louis stood before her in the soft pink dress she had chosen for his first evening, the ruffled apron tied neatly at his waist, white stockings smooth against his legs, black heels clicking softly when he shifted his weight. His dark hair was bobbed and parted with a white headband. He met her eyes with a mixture of nerves and quiet, long-held eagerness.

Joy smiled, the same warm, confident smile that had always steadied him.

“You were my husband,” she said, her voice gentle but clear. “Now you are my maid, and all these uniforms belong to you… Louisa.”

She let the new name settle between them, then continued, guiding him through the life they had both chosen the day the lottery numbers changed everything.

“When the money came, you finally said it out loud-the thing you’d only whispered late at night. You wanted to leave the office behind. You wanted to serve. Not as a hobby. Not on weekends. Fully. Loyally. As my maid.”

She stepped closer, adjusting the collar of his dress with careful fingers.

“From this moment, that is who you are. You will wake before me every morning. Coffee on the tray by six-thirty, the house already quiet and ordered. You will keep every room spotless-floors polished, beds made with hospital corners, laundry pressed and folded the way I like it. Meals will be ready when I want them, plated beautifully, served with a curtsy and a soft ‘Yes, ma’am.’”

Joy’s hand moved to rest against the side of his face, thumb brushing his cheek.

“You will wear the uniforms. Pink for quiet days at home. Black for formal evenings when I have guests. The red when I want something bolder. The blue when I feel playful. You will keep them immaculate. No wrinkles. No spots. You will always be presentable for me.”

She gestured around the room-the bed with its soft pink throw, the vanity, the full-length mirror reflecting the two of them.

“This suite is yours as much as it is mine, but you will keep it perfect. You will draw my baths, lay out my clothes, help me dress when I ask. You will walk two steps behind when we leave the house, open doors, carry packages, and answer to the name I give you: Louisa.”

Louis’s cheeks were warm, but he did not look away.

Joy’s voice softened further.

“You will obey without argument. If I correct you, you will thank me. If I praise you, you will blush and curtsy deeper. Your old life-the suits, the meetings, the name on the office door-is finished. This is the life you asked for. The life I made possible.”

She stepped back, hands on her hips, surveying him from head to toe with open affection.

“Tonight you will serve dinner. Tomorrow you will begin the full schedule. Every uniform in this room is yours. Every duty is yours. And I-” her smile widened-“am yours to serve for as long as you remain the loyal maid you always wanted to be.”

Louis lowered his gaze for a moment, then lifted it again, steady.

“Yes, ma’am,” he said quietly.

Joy’s expression gentled completely. She reached out once more, straightening the bow of his apron.

“Good girl, Louisa. Now go change into the black one. Guests will be here in an hour, and I want my maid looking perfect.”

He turned toward the nearest mannequin, the soft swish of the pink dress following him across the wooden floor, and the new chapter of their life settled quietly into place around them.

Part 2

In the soft pink glow of the fairy lights, Joy stood with one manicured hand resting possessively on Louis’s shoulder. The bedroom around them was a carefully curated cage of femininity-plush rugs, fringed throws, and mannequins displaying an arsenal of maid uniforms in every shade she had chosen for him. Blue, red, black, and the soft pink he currently wore, complete with ruffled apron, white stockings, and the black heels that forced him to stand with careful, feminine poise.

Louis kept his eyes lowered. The white headband held his newly bobbed hair in place. He did not speak. He already knew better.

Joy’s smile was bright, almost affectionate, as she turned his face toward hers with two fingers under his chin.

“You were my husband,” she said, voice light and clear. “Now you are my maid. And all these uniforms belong to you… Louisa.”

She let the new name hang in the air, watching the way his throat worked as he swallowed.

“I want to be very clear,” she continued, circling him slowly so he could feel her eyes on every detail of the pink dress. “You are not my butler. You are not my servant. You are not some dignified male staff member who answers the door and pours wine. You are my maid. Louisa. Soft, obedient, and permanently in skirts. That is the arrangement. That is the price of my silence.”

Louis’s shoulders tightened, but he remained still. Whatever she held over him was worse than this. Far worse. He would wear the dresses. He would answer to Louisa. He would do whatever she demanded rather than let that secret see daylight.

Joy stopped in front of him again, hands on her hips, clearly savoring the power.

“From this moment on, your life is mine to structure. You will wake at five-thirty every morning. By the time I rise, the house will already be immaculate. Floors polished. Bathrooms sparkling. Beds made with hospital corners. Laundry washed, ironed, and put away. Breakfast will be ready the moment I sit down-served on a tray, with a proper curtsy and ‘Yes, ma’am.’”

She reached out and flicked the ruffle of his apron.

“You will wear these uniforms every single day. Pink for ordinary days. Black for when I have company. Red when I want to remind you who owns you. Blue when I feel generous. You will keep them spotless. You will keep yourself spotless. Makeup every morning. Nails neat. Legs smooth. Heels on whenever you leave this room. No exceptions.”

Joy’s voice dropped into something almost intimate, but the steel underneath never left.

“You will cook every meal. You will clean every surface. You will lay out my clothes, draw my baths, massage my feet when I demand it, and stand quietly in the corner when I do not need you. When guests are present, you will serve them with perfect manners and never once forget that your name is Louisa. If anyone asks about my husband, you will smile and say he is traveling. Indefinitely.”

She stepped closer, close enough that he could smell her perfume, and rested her palm flat against his chest over the soft fabric of the dress.

“You will not argue. You will not negotiate. You will not try to reclaim any piece of the man you used to be. That man is gone. Louisa is all that remains. And Louisa belongs to me.”

Louis’s eyes stayed fixed on the floor. Resignation sat heavy in his posture-the quiet, exhausted acceptance of a man who had already calculated the cost of defiance and found it unbearable.

Joy’s smile widened, bright with pure enjoyment.

“Good. You’re already learning. Tonight you will serve dinner in the black uniform. Tomorrow the full schedule begins. Every uniform in this room is yours now. Every duty is yours. And I,” she said, tilting his chin up so he had no choice but to meet her triumphant gaze, “will enjoy every single second of watching you live as my maid for the rest of your life.”

She released him with a little pat to his cheek.

“Go change, Louisa. Guests arrive in an hour. And do try to look pretty for them.”

Louis turned without a word, the soft swish of the pink skirt the only sound as he walked toward the black uniform waiting on its mannequin. The secret stayed locked behind his silence, heavier than the heels, heavier than the dress, and far heavier than the life Joy had just claimed for him.
