Swapping Personalities

Swapping Personalities

The fluorescent lights of the underground clinic hummed with a low, clinical drone. Kirstie sat at the battered metal desk, her fingers moving across the keyboard with practiced precision. The monitor cast a pale glow across her face, highlighting the tight set of her mouth. Behind her, the brick wall absorbed the cold light. Two hospital beds occupied the far side of the room.

On the left, Callum lay under a thin green blanket, arms folded across his chest, eyes closed. An IV line trailed from his arm to a bag hanging from a stand. On the right, Amie rested on white sheets, a blue blanket pulled halfway up her body. A white bandage circled her forehead. She still wore the outfit she had chosen that morning-a black mesh top, a short red leather skirt, and sheer black stockings that clung to her legs. Even unconscious, the clothes looked deliberate, calculated.

Kirstie had planned this for weeks.

Amie had always treated her body like a weapon. Every outfit was chosen to draw eyes. Every gesture, every tilt of the head, every slow walk across a room was designed to make men rearrange their priorities. She spent hours on her hair and makeup. She never wore anything that could be called practical or understated. It wasn’t vanity alone-it was strategy. And it worked, until it didn’t. The men she attracted never stayed. They took what she offered and left. Kirstie had watched it happen too many times, and she had grown tired of the cycle, tired of the late-night complaints, tired of living with a roommate whose entire personality revolved around being desired.

Callum had been different once. Or so Kirstie had believed. Then she had caught him-multiple times, with multiple women. The betrayal had been quiet and thorough. She had not screamed. She had simply begun to plan.

The machine beside her beeped softly as the transfer sequence completed. Personality matrices, behavioral patterns, preferences, mannerisms-everything that made Amie *Amie* and Callum *Callum* had been exchanged. The process left no physical trace beyond the temporary sedation.
