The Perfect Candidate
Leonard adjusted his tie as he prepared for the interview. After three failed attempts with other agencies, he hoped this time would be different. The telephone sat on his mahogany desk, its surface polished to perfection---a habit he'd developed after his wife passed away and left him to manage the large Victorian house alone. "MaidPro Services, this is Sandra speaking," came a professional voice over the line. "Hello, I'd like to request a maid for a house cleaning position," Leonard said, his voice carrying the authority of a man accustomed to being obeyed. After providing his address and requirements, Leonard spent the afternoon ensuring everything was in order. The house gleamed from his own efforts, but he needed someone more skilled for the deep cleaning and proper maintenance he'd been putting off. The doorbell rang promptly at 2 PM. Leonard opened the door to find a woman in her early thirties standing professionally in a navy business suit, her blonde hair pinned back neatly. "Mr. Leonard? I'm Miss Tantania from MaidPro Services. We spoke this morning about the position." "Please, come in," Leonard gestured toward his living room. "Can I get you anything? Coffee? Tea?" Miss Tantania declined politely, pulling out a notepad as they settled into the conversation. Leonard began with the standard questions he'd researched online. "What cleaning experience do you have?" "I've worked as a professional housekeeper for eight years, with references available. I'm skilled in deep cleaning, organization, laundry, and maintaining fine furnishings." "Previous employment?"
